Dates/Times: 2-session class, Saturday, November 2nd, from 3-7 pm and Sunday, November 3rd, from 12-4 pm

Location: Council for the Arts, 103 N. Main Street, Chambersburg, PA

Description:

This workshop will explore the basics of linoleum cut–also known as linocut–printmaking in two sessions over one weekend. Students will start by developing bold images of personal interest through sketches and then transfer their designs onto the linoleum block to carve. Once the blocks are carved, participants will be ready to explore inking and printing their blocks. If time allows participants can design, carve, and print more than one block. 

David R. Modler is a maker, scholar and professor originally from Baltimore, Maryland. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Education in Art Education from Towson State University and his Master of Fine Arts in painting and printmaking from James Madison University.  Modler currently serves as a Professor of Art and the Chair of the Department of Contemporary Art, Communication, and Theater at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, where he teaches several studio courses including relief printmaking.
