I Am Art

The Council For The Arts has been a driving force of creative opportunity and experiential education in the Franklin County community since 1987.  The global changes we have all experienced has challenged us to create a new vision of our future and prompted discussion on how better to serve our local community, exploring ways to make the arts more relevant and accessible.

As part of this focus, we are undertook a project that aimed to recognize the talent and efforts of our local artists, and share their experiences of how art has impacted their lives, and their experience of arts in our community.  

In February 2021 we asked our community to nominate artists whose work and legacy within the community have been impactful. From there we will selected 15 artists and created unique installations of each of their works based around portraits of the artist, photographed by local photographer Phillip Michael Whitley
