Arts Express 2010 Summer Schedule
Who? Kids grades 2-6 who want to express themselves through art. Bring your best
friend and make it extra fun.
What? Choose from six different fine-art workshops; held at two different locations; see
the other side for a list of the cool things you can do.
Where? Coyle Library (709-0303) and Grove Family Library (264-9663), Chambersburg.
(Must call to preregister.)
When? Beginning the week of June 21st through the week of July 26th; workshops at the
Coyle Library will be held on Tuesdays, 9:30-11:00am; workshops at Grove Family
Library will be held Fridays 9:30-11:00am*.
Why? Because you’re creative and want to learn more about art - plus its free!
How? Space is limited for each workshop and pre-registration is required.
Week of July 5: “Roosevelt, Teddy Bears and Ragtime Dances” - Dance, music,
games and crafts that were popular during the time of President Teddy Roosevelt with
professional dancers Nancy Walker and Jef Savage.
Week of July 12: “Day of the Dead” – learn about the holiday and create your own
festive Day of the Dead mask with art teacher Nicole Jacobs.
Week of July 19: Learn some techniques in printmaking with artist Laurie McKelvie.
Week of July 26: “From Street to Studio: Graffiti Art” - Get inspired by Jean Michel
Basquiat and Keith Haring, who both started out as graffiti artists. Basquiat and Haring
brought their graffiti art into the studios and became world famous artists! Have fun
creating your own graffiti art with art specialist Merissa Vevasis. We will paint our names
graffiti style and create a graffiti mural with artist Merissa Vevasis.
